Hey kids,
So I had the pleasure of working with a client who requested a Clay Imitation of his friend to be presented at an awards banquet. The catch was, he wanted a piece twice the size I normally work in, or a 9" tall figure. He emailed me a few photos of his friend and I set to work.
Now, I have always wanted to work in a larger scale than my typical 4" tall people, but no one ever asks for it, and if you know me you know I don't have any of my own pieces lying around. It was nice to work in this new size and showed me that a lot more detail can be obtained when working larger. (Duh.)
Here is the piece:
And here is another closer image so you can compare the faces.
After completing this piece I got to thinking that it would be something I would like to do more often, but am not sure where in my Geekery Store this would fit. So, I have an idea I would like to run past you, my six loyal readers. What are your thoughts on me having a separate website that specializes in the larger, more detailed sculptures? I am pondering the name The Studio by Paul Pape Designs, or something along that line.
I also whipped up another piece that would fit into this new mold, a personalized bust.
It's a smaller piece, about 5" tall, but the head itself is larger and leads to more detail. So, let me know your thoughts.
