After last year's success (and several failures), Paul Pape Designs (that's me) has redesigned, retooled and repackaged the Chocomiis for 2009.
As my father put it, last year I got a really expensive education, complete with a nervous breakdown. BUT, I won't let that stand in my way. So I went back to the drawing board to see exactly what worked, and what didn't. And let me tell you, the customers certainly let me know what didn't, and I took it all to heart.
So, what's new this year? First of all, a name change: Chocomiis. I tried for months to get Nintendo® to grant me the rights to their precious namesakes, but after they started dodging my calls, I decided that there had to be a better way. So I thought back to my favorite candy of all time, the Candy Cigarette, and thought, "How can they get away with ripping off Pall Mall like that?" Ah, a simple change of name. So I bring you Chocomiis, half chocolate, half Mii®, all mine.
Speaking of Chocomiis, they got a facelift too. No more decapitated chocolates. No more chocolate-heads-so-thick-I-can't-bite-through-it. This time they come with a 1/4" thick chocolate base that is console-shaped. Think Carbonite-freeze Miis. They are thinner, which means you can actually bite them, but they are still a whopping 2 oz. of pure milk, dark or white chocolate.
And the box changed too. Even though it looks like a familar gaming console, this one sports the Ninetindo logo and is called the Wjj. It also has the wonderful quote "Wjj belong together, you and Mjj." printed on the box. Yes, PRINTED on the box. No more stickers, folks. And what about that spelling, Paul? Wjj? Well, some fancy Photoshop work and over 7000 fonts allows me to pick a font that makes the 'J' look a whole lot like an 'I', but it isn't.
I also am now bagging and sealing all the chocolates. And they ship in a plastic tray. No more bubble-wrap, and I couldn't be happier. It looks that much cleaner and more professional. Plus, the Kosher Jews can actually EAT the chocolate. (I wasn't informed last year and felt absolutely horrible that they couldn't eat the chocolate because they weren't sealed.) So many changes, but all for the better.
And speaking of better, last year I put a select number of boxes on Ebay and dontated the money earned to the Child's Play charity. This year I am doing one better. $1 from EVERY BOX SOLD will go to Child's Play. So please support a good cause and order a box today.
