Here is an engagement ring box that I was commissioned to build for a lucky client. It features Andy's toy box with Buzz, Woody, Bo Peep, Jessie, Slinky Dog, Wheezy, Ham and even Etch. Each figure is hand sculpted from Super Sculpey and painted with acrylics. The box is also hand made with graphics created by me in Photoshop with some hand painting as well. There are "stickers" on the toy box that represent each of the Pixar movies. The ring in the picture is not the actual ring, but a stand in I have for photo purposes.

I just launched a brand new product that was born out of necessity and will hopefully help anyone who has found themselves in a similar situation. Here's my story: I have a four year old son, and I drive a vehicle that I like to keep somewhat clean. Of course the only way to do that is to ban anything liquid from the car. But that's just not happening.
So, one day I buy my kid a Sunny D fruit punch. Better than soda, but it has this big mouth opening. Not two miles down the road my kid takes a swig, I hit a bump and POW!, fruit punch everywhere! So from that day on, I worked on a better delivery system.
Introducing the StrawKey
It's a silly name, but a handy tool. The StrawKey allows you to easily open a straw-size hole in the lid of any plastic bottle. Once the hole is created, you insert a straw and replace the lid. Now you've got a secure delivery system, and best of all, it won't leak. Now you're free to hand off the drink to the kids and not fear the mess!
The StrawKey is machined out of aircraft grade aluminum specifically to the dimensions of drinking straws. The tapered design creates a standard 6mm straw hole up to larger 8mm hole so any size straw will work. And since it's made in the shape of a key, it easily fits on any keyring so you'll always have it handy.
You can watch a demo of the StrawKey here:
You get two StrawKeys for only $9.95, it makes a great gift, stocking stuffer or even an inexpensive splurge for yourself. Pick one up today at StrawKey.com!
Just in time for the holidays, I'm expanding the Custom Carbonite Line once again. If you are an enthusiast of Outer Space Battles, or know someone who is, the Custom Carbonites can literally put them into the action! (If "in the action" means frozen forever in carbonite.)
Joining the 4" Small Custom Carbonites is the NEW 12" Large Custom Carbonite! The piece is 1:6 scale and weighs in at an impressive four pounds. The amount of detail is much higher than with the 4" pieces and makes for an awesome addition for any collector.
Just look at the detail!
And here's another one: The Large Custom Carbonites join the Small Custom Carbonites, but what if you want to express a love that will never end? That's where the Couples Carbonites come in!
Couples Carbonites are double-wide chambers that you and your loved one can share for eternity. You can choose the people, the clothes, even the pose! Don't have a special someone? One customer was so infatuated with John Travolta, she is now boogying forever with John.
See for yourself:
Or you can go more traditional
Ordering couldn't be easier. Just head over to my General Geekery Store and choose the carbonite that is right for you. Then email me the images you want me to use to paulpape(at)gmail.com. What if it's a gift? Not sure how to get the picture without spoiling the surprise? I don't even need the whole pose. If you can get me a good shot of the face you want captured, and then let me know what kind of outfit and pose, I can meld it all together.
Typical lead time is two weeks, but with the holidays approaching, I'll be pushing them out as soon as I can. And if you have any questions, I'm only an email away.

I wanted to tell you about a new venture that I am thrilled to be a part of. The fabulous Acker & Blacker's Thrilling Adventure Hour and I are producing collectibles for their Thrilling Adventure Hour podcast. Who's that, you may ask? This is from their site:
"Acker & Blacker’s The Thrilling Adventure and Supernatural Suspense Hour is a staged comedy production in the style of an old-time radio show that proves radio is still the king of all media!
A sophisticated comedy sprinkled with affectionate homage to 1940’s era radio, the Thrilling Adventure… program features three non-serialized serials in each episode, as well as jingles and messages from sponsors such as Patriot Brand Cigarettes (“Good for your Constitution”).
Ben Acker and Ben Blacker write and produce a new show each month and have since March 2005. The house is regularly standing-room only, and the crowds consist not only of Hollywood denizens seeking a unique evening of comedy, but also loyal fans who return month after month to follow their favorite characters. A second monthly show has been added to accommodate the regularly sold-out audience.
The Thrilling Adventure and Supernatural Suspense Hour is performed by nicely-dressed performers whom you’ll recognize from television, comedy clubs, the UCB and Second City stages, and the movies. Each and every one of them is raring to take down Garrison Keillor’s troupe of yellow-bellied thesps in a rumble, anytime, anywhere."
The first piece was launched at their live show last Saturday (November 5th) and launched online last night.
Behold the Thrilling Adventure Hour Secret Decoder Ring!
Available in three colors (Silver, Jade and Gold), these fully functional decoder rings will add a new experience to their 40's style radio show. What could they poosibly want you to decode? How about links to behind the scenes footage of rehearsals, merchandise discounts and my personal favorite: opportunities to get your hands on future pieces before anyone else!
Interested in getting one? They are only $10 and available through my SITE.
Today I turn 36, which is a nice number divisible by four, so I'd like to reflect on where I was in the quarters of my life.
Twenty seven years ago, I was a nine year old boy starting fourth grade at Edison Elementary. On that day, they asked me to read the Emancipation Proclamation (who's anniversary is also today)in front of the entire school. I remember standing on top of a pedestal and reading it the best I could. I don't recall being nervous.
Eighteen years ago I was a senior in high school. I received the best advice from my band teacher, Mr. Lovgren. He told me that "Doctors hang out with doctors." Which is still great advice to surround yourself with people who share a common interest and to find your opportunities from within those circles, rather than hoping for a big break from outside.
Nine years ago I had just married my best friend, and was at Disney World for our honeymoon. We spent the day searching for a good barbecue joint, but never finding one. It was a fabulous day spent with a woman who has become my life long play companion.
Today, as I sit here and write this, I am blessed with two beautiful children, a loving wife, a home which is more than a house, my dream job and am surrounded by friends and family. Although the road to here wasn't always easy, I wouldn't change a thing and risk not being where I am today.
It's rare that I make a topper that I hate to send out because I want to keep it. This was definitely one of those. When the order was placed, the customer asked if I could do a topper with his favorite characters, Luigi and Link. I said sure, but inquired if they were friends or partners. His reply was "Best friends", in which it donned on me that the topper was for his groom's cake, not the actual wedding cake.
Here are a few new Little Big Planet toppers I've recently made. They just keep getting cuter! Each one is based on the client's choices. Sometimes they are wearing in-game attire, sometimes the bride and groom's actual wedding attire. Hairstyles are also contantly changing or being altered to personalize the pieces more. Enjoy!!
